About GW

What We Are...

Greener Waldringfield (GW) is a voluntary community group whose aim is to nurture a caring culture where we  develop relationships that enable us to work together with a vision for a sustainable future, and particularly to raise awareness of the special environment that we enjoy in Waldringfield to ensure it is still here for future generations to enjoy.

What We Do...

GW started in 2009, growing out of the foundation of Transition Woodbridge of which we were some of the initiators. Some of the principles of the Transition Movement are very apt today and include “Head, Heart and Hands” :  using collective intelligence, working with compassion and turning ideas into reality.  Particularly important in this is being connected and creative, sharing and collaborating, working with everyone by being part of a wider network where we can draw on each other’s experiences and insights.  Being at grass roots level we can respond quickly to our community and design events and activities that help support its needs.

About Waldringfield

Waldringfield is a popular location for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers as well as those looking to improve their health and well-being by either living or spending leisure time in this special location where they can experience the natural environment provided by the River Deben, its beaches and salt marshes as well as the surrounding countryside within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Landscape. This includes water sports of all kinds, nature watching of rare migrating birds to resident seals and where we can enjoy the spectacular scenery that we now understand is threatened by climate change.
